THE SECOND SUNDAY after PENTECOST

June 22, 2025

WE NOW ENTER THE LONG SEASON AFTER PENTECOST, often called “Ordinary Time” in the Roman Catholic and Lutheran Churches (though NOT in the Episcopal Church). This is the lengthy period of the Church Year that stretches all the way to next Advent. It is a Season of spiritual growth, when the Gospel Readings especially focus on the teachings and miracles of Jesus during His three years of earthly ministry. There are almost no Feast Days on the Sundays of this Season – until we reach All Saints’ Sunday and Christ the King Sunday. Green, the color of growth, is the Liturgical Color of this Season. Enjoy this time as our Lord speaks to His Church through His many teachings and healings!
