The First Sunday of Advent

As we enter a new church year, Jesus’ words remind us that faith is lived in the ordinary, everyday moments. None of us knows the hour when God will break into our lives with new possibility, hope, or challenge. Like the people in Noah’s time, we go about our routines — and yet Christ calls us to wakefulness, to a readiness of heart. Advent invites us to look for God’s presence in the unexpected and to prepare room for the One who is always drawing near.
