The Twenty-Second Sunday after Pentecost

In this Sunday’s Gospel from Luke, Jesus looks at the grandeur of the temple and reminds his friends that even the most solid stones will one day fall. He does not promise that life will be easy; he speaks honestly of wars, turmoil, and betrayal. Yet in the midst of all this, he tells us, “Do not be terrified,” and assures us that not a hair of our head will perish. By God’s grace, our endurance is not grim determination but a steady trust that Christ is with us, giving us words to speak and courage to stand firm, even when the world feels shaky around us.
